Welcome to Carcassonne! Figuring out where to leave your car when you first move to a new city can be a bit confusing, so here is a simplified guide to your long-term parking options as a resident.
(Note: This guide focuses strictly on monthly and annual subscriptions. If you are looking for short-term or hourly parking, please click here to check out our other post!)
1. Underground Parking (City Center / Bastide Saint-Louis)
If you want the security of covered parking, the city offers subscriptions for its three main underground lots: Jacobins (P5), André Chénier (P4), and Gambetta (P3). A subscription gives you 24/7 access using a swipe card (which requires a €15 refundable deposit).
Estimated Rates (varies slightly between Chénier and Jacobins/Gambetta):
Monthly: €47 to €50 (Students can get a special €20/month rate at Chénier!)
Quarterly (3 months): €130 to €135
Half-Yearly (6 months): €235 to €255
Annually: €440 to €475
Multi-Park Pass (6 months): €300
How to sign up & pay: You can manage and pay for your underground parking subscription directly on the Carcassonne City Website (Click the button that says “je réserve une place“ under the “Services en ligne” section).Â
2. On-Street Resident Parking
If you live in the city center and prefer to park your car on the street, the city utilizes a digital subscription system for the long-term “Green Zones.”
How to sign up & pay: The easiest way to set up and manage your monthly street parking subscription is by using the PayByPhone app. It connects directly to your license plate, so you don’t need a paper ticket on your dashboard.
Sign up for PayByPhone here (Available on web, iOS, and Android)
In-person alternative: You can also register in person at the parking reception desk located at 53 Boulevard Jean Jaurès (at the Cyclolibre welcome desk).
3. Pont-Neuf Parking (Budget Friendly)
Located near the Pont Neuf bridge connecting the lower town to the Cité, this is a highly affordable open-air parking lot.
Rate: Flat rate of just €30 per month.
How to sign up & pay: You can manage and pay for your Pont Neuf parking subscription directly on the Carcassonne City Website (Click the button that says “je réserve une place“ under the “Services en ligne” section).Â
4. Medieval Cité Parking (P0, P1, P2)
If your new home is up near the historic Cité Médiévale, long-term subscriptions are available for the main tourist car parks (so you don’t have to pay the daily tourist rates!).
How to sign up: Because rates and availability for residents vary based on the season, you need to contact the Cité parking office directly to set up your subscription.

A Quick Tip : When dealing with French administration in person (like buying your pass at the P0 desk or Jean Jaurès), always bring a piece of ID and a recent “Justificatif de domicile” (Proof of address, like a recent utility bill or your lease) so they can verify you are a local resident!
PLEASE NOTE : You should always consult the official page https://www.carcassonne.org/article-page/stationnement and check for pricing and updates.
