When to Visit

The best time of year in Carcassonne

The best time to visit Carcassonne is typically in the spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October). During these months, the weather is pleasant, with mild temperatures and fewer tourists compared to the summer peak. This allows you to explore the medieval city and its attractions more comfortably. If you enjoy festivals, the summer months also offer lively events and concerts, but it is much busier.

Carcassonne is a perfect location for a holiday in the South of France. Located in the beautiful Aude it is surrounded by vineyards, rolling hills, rivers and bordered by the Montagne Noire and Pyrenees. The medieval castle, “La Cité Médiévale”, with it’s 52 towers and 3km of ramparts is the star of the city and a UNESCO world heritage site.
